  1. Hello,

I normally use Main Concept for .avi to VCD conversion.

In some of my conversions I notice that the video does this stutter thing.

What happens is that it plays smooth for 2 or 3 seconds and then "stutters" for a second or two and then goes back to normal.

For a moment... suspend disbelief and pretend your watching a movie and it looks like this:
    _________.....__________....._________....._______ __....________

NOTE: The Audio seems to be just fine and not jittery... that i can notice. Also sometimes the stutters are more noticable than others... i think its less noticable when playing back cartoons.

NOTE: In Main Concept I always jack up Search Method and Search Range to its highest settings. Dunno if that may be sumthin...

I'm hoping someone here understands what I mean.

So is there anything I can do about this minor annoyance?

I'm pretty sure its not the CDs or teh PLayer because I notice it when I run it in WMP Classic or WMP10 after conversion.

Any help would be appreciated. THank you.

  2. What plays on your computer rarely has any bearing on what plays on your standalone, especially when using WMP (which sucks for playback testing).
What are the specs of the source file (a Gspot screenshot would really help, blank out the filename).

  3. I would say specificly but this happens maybe every 3 or 4 times... the only reason i notice it on TV better is because its bigger... but i see it in computer playback as well.

But heres the one i just did...

  4. It's a 25fps PAL Anamorphic widescreen.
What settings are you using in Mainconcept for output?

  6. And it's jerky.
Only Canopus Procoder can do this type of conversion properly, afaik.
Look through the Guides forum for lots more on how to do this properly.

  7. so basicly... dont convert Pal to NTSC unless i use the above program, yes?

I think thats cool anyway. From what I remember most players will compensate. Or at least mine will.

Does going from 25 to 29 NTSC produce the same effect?

And THank you very much for your help.

  8. Oh yes, only worse! If your player can read a PAL disk, then it's best to just encode and author a PAL disk from a PAL source.
Any time you do framerate changes, especially in an mpg, it can get totally messed up.
