  1. Was looking for some yellow coloured slimline jewel cases but couldn't find any so I thought why don't I buy some clear slimline jewel cases and get some transparent yellow paint to paint the cases with.

    Any problems with this?

Could I damage any cd-r that i would store in this case?

    Thanks,

    David

  2. Sure can, for example I recently painted my slim line cases with a transparent yellow and soon after made my cd's unplayable. This had me perplexed, so I tried to track down exactly what was happening. I found that the yellow color mixed with the high wavelength light emitted from fluorescent light bulbs caused a rare phenomenon. In laymen’s terms, it weakened the polycarbonate layer and distorted the aluminums reflective properties

  6. Just take the CD out of the case and paint it and then dont put the cd back in until it has dried. Only problem you might have is the extra thickness.

  7. Right ok thank.

Any paints i should avoid(thinking of getting the paint from a model shop)?

I wouldn't put a disc in until it dried anyway.

    Thanks,

    David

  8. I guess that any paint would be ok but I would just experiment until you find a good one.
I would try it first on some unimportant cd's in case their are some side effects but i couldnt think of any.

Well, I see no one has asked so far... WHY would you want yellow cases? Do the clear or white cases clash with the shirt you're wearing?

Cuz you know... I personally would like some nice black cases to go with my black cd rack.

Will you be wanting pink cases to go with your pink CD-R's also?

  12. Go to BestBuy and buy their multicolored slimline cases. You get 50 CDs... 10 blue, 10 purple, 10 red, 10 green, and 10 orange. Hmm... then return that, because I was thinking there was a yellow one in there. Unless the orange is really yellow, in which case you should go back to BestBuy and purchase it again. Hey, if you opened it, it'll be open box and 10% off. Whoo hoo! Then throw away the other 40 CDs. Taa dah! 10 Yellow Slimline Cases

    I never paid them.

Well, Robbins1940... sign up as someone else and buy them. How about Robbins1941? Sound original?

And Mikewg, you're funny. But, what about buying say ten packs of these multicolored cd cases. Take out all the yellowish ones, then combine all the others together into like 8 or 9 packs. Return those saying, "There are no yellow ones in these! I want a refund!" And taa dah! You've got like 100 yellow cases for a fraction of the cost.

Anyway, this is a stupid conversation. Those yellow dvd cases are ugly. Get black everything.

Are you saying that you refuse to pay the Ebay fees?

  18. Aren't the fees really cheap? I posted something and it was $3.20. Or did you sell something expensive, like a car or a kidney or a day with Baldrick? I bid $10!

  19. try http://www.xdr2.com. I know they have color slim line jewel case. but i am not sure whether they have yellow color.

  20. Why dont you just buy 1 coloured light bulb (i.e yellow). 1) It's cheaper and 2) it can make your whole room look yellow to go with the cdr's

  21. Thanks for that.

  22. Good call Bilbogod... here's some other options:

    1. Yellow contact lenses... or less severe, yellow glasses.

    2. Go to Home Depot, buy some white spray paint, and spray your CDs white so they'll match the clear cases you currently have.

    3. Copy the yellow CDs to a regular colored CD and throw away the yellow ones.

    4. Turn off the lights and close the windows... then all your CDs will match cause you can't see them.

    Good luck!

I love how much time we have to waste. But you know what? Go with black. Like I've been saying...

  27. Actually, there ARE paints that weaken the CDR recording layers, particularly ones high in Laquer content. They cause laser rot. I've got some audio cds with this. They sound like someone is scraping a brick on the floor, along with the music. With a VCD, I imagine it would end up being so pixellated it would be unwatchable

  28. Actually i could be colour blind. Those orange cases could be yellow and maybes i need orange paint.

I was just thinking of spraying the outside of the case not the inside just to be on the safe side.

But then again i may not bother.
