  1. Hey guys,

Just wondering your opinions on Sonic MyDVD?

I like the program for the ease of use. I am just wondering if anyone elses uses it or has used it and if I'm missing any pro's or con's for using it.

What I'm really looking for is an easy program to do menue's with, take out commercials and then burn to DVD. I mostly am using my TiVo for the video.

    Thanks

I have Sonic MyDVD but to be honest, the only thing I use it for is making data DVDs or data and music CDs.

I find it way too difficult to use for making DVDs in that I can't get it to do anything that I want it to do. I've spent days trying to convert files to something that it can use and in the end, it never lets me join what I spent days converting. If I try to join four 800 MB files it tells me that the first file is 3GB and I obviously won't have room to join the rest. I figure, what good is a DVD program that won't handle DVD files (VOBs etc...).

I mostly use freeware programs but did get the TMPGEnc DVD Author program for times when I need to make menus.

I think it sucks. It came bundled, I installed it, checked it out, uninstalled it.

I use Ulead DVD Workshop and TMPGenc DVD Author and plan on checking out DVD-Lab soon.

  4. Simple program, and it was free. Version 4.5

Supports AC-3 audio. Does not support Mpeg audio, converts to LPCM.

Only program I know of which will accurately cut Inverse Telecined files muxed with AC-3 and maintain correct audio.

Motion Menus, motion backround. Nothing Fancy.

Files compatible with my son's PS2. This eliminated some others.

  5. Don't like it...but that's because I'm a snob....really, when it comes to DVD Auhthoring titles I am a snob, I love Reel DVD and I can't stop recommending it. (although it's not looking like having a long future)

Total crapware. More Sonic bloatware that barely functions properly.

Newbies like it because it looks pretty and friendly, but that feeling usually wears off really quickly.

As an all-in-one dummy tool, some may like it. Maybe.
