  1. I have a homemade DVD that started to have a couple of hiccups when playing it in my home DVD player. I tried ripping it back to my hard drive and there is a few bad sectors on the disk. It gets through VOB1 okay but about a third of the way through VOB2 it registers some bad sectors. I was using a variety of rippers with no luck. I tried decrypting it - tried DVD shrink. If I can't get it back on my hard drive, I may end up having to play and capture the DVD to my hard drive. I was hoping to find a better way. I tried using DVD FAb to copy the DVD to my hard drive and when it hit the bad sector, I told it to ignore all, but the program locked up. When plaing the DVD when it hits these spots the image turns to little squares and the image looks like stained glass and then continues fine. Any suggestions??? Thanks!

You could try isobuster. I haven't used it myself but it's supposed be good on problem discs.

If the disc has physical damage, such as scratches, you can try to polish them out. If it is a deteriorated disc (Usually a cheap one), then there is not a lot you can do. If Decrypter can't rip it with your drive, then you might try a different DVD drive. Some are more tolerant of errors.

Other than that, rip what you can and edit out the bad parts, then resave to DVD.

Yes, definately recomend a better reading drive, if you have access.... my NEC 3500 wont read a lot of discs, whereas my KProbe 832S, will read them flawlessly...this has saved many a 'coaster' for me.
