Nero 6 help? Please

Hi,
My name is Ashley. This is my first post but have been reading here for a couple of months. There seems to be alot of cool people here. I have something that has been erking me for awhile.

I rip my widescreen dvd video (not copy protected material) with Nero Recode 2. Then with that mp4 file I edit it with NeroVision 3.

From there, I go to burn that movie and when transcoding the movie. The time elapsed part get stuck in between the 1-3 minute mark and won't continue. I let it go for more than 2 hours and it didn't advance. It stuck on 2 minutes and didn't further advance making the dvd. The progress bar doesn't advance either.

What could be the problem I've tried different dvd media and different video content all with the same result. At the burning page it gets stuck at around 2 minutes progress and won't continue the project. I have a pretty good laptop at 3 ghz, 1024 ram, pentium 4 hyper threading. What could be the problem?

You just want to rip your DVD so you can burn it to a DVD?Is that?
You just need to use dvd decrypter to rip the dvd to hard disk ant then shrink it with DVD Shrink.
Just like that!

Nero 6 rip dvd to mp4 results are REALLY good. (if you can be bothered WAITING........................................jus t rip dvd to dvd-r nice and quick and easy )

Oh I forgot to mention that I use NeroVision 3 to edit my movie a little. Then from there I burn to DvD and thats where my probblem starts.

Did you upgrade to NVE 3 from an earlier version, or install v.3 from the get-go? Wondering whether a re-install is in order...before you do, I would download and run Nero's "cleaning tool" first, and do a fresh re-install.

But before you do that, try this first. After upgrading from NVE 2.* to 3, I began having trouble burning. The fix was simple...in the final screen before you actually burn your DVD, "Burn Options", in the "Set The Parameters For Burning" window on the right, select the "Recording Settings" option, and un-check the "use Burn-At-Once" option if it is checked.

...oh, and forgot to suggest that for the sake of trouble-shooting the problem, if unchecking that "burn at once" option doesn't give immediate relief, you should also try shutting down any other non-critical apps or background processes (use Task Manager) before you open Nero and try to burn. Doing so is a PITA, but you might be able to identify something that is conflicting with Nero.

Also, I assume you have gobs of free HD space on your laptop?

i have the same problem like ashley , i dont know why when i try not to even to burn but just to create a dvd on hard drive i get Nerovision freeazing....after i load and edit a movie (avi source ) and when nerovision transcode after a while it stops .... The time elapsed still go on but the rest of the timers stops and the movie display the same stops ....No error message , nothing ...and than i need to close nerovision from task manager ...even "abort" button does not work ...(
Any solutions ????
I got the trial version of last nervision from their site ....so it is the latest version . Last grafic drive , planty of space on my hard(20 Gb), win xp sp2 all updates...
The strange thing is that to some avi files my nerovision works perfect ...i'm able to burn dvd with no problem....but to some of them it crashes... What could be the reason ...
I also DO NOT have no codecs installed ...for now ...my avi files play good in nero and win media player ...so i dont think i need any ...or do i ?

Also do i need any drivers for my dvd writter ...?it is a sony...?

I cannot find this option on my nero "recording settings ..." where is it ?
ups ...sorry found it ...but no help from there...
