    Hi
    I have a Liteon DVDRW LDW-541s burner. Nero 6 Ultra. Media is TDK DVD-RW ver1.2 (4X) discs.

    There are 2 problems:

    1. when i burn a movie to disc it automatically defaults to 1x, even though these are 4x discs. I've seen it mentioned before that this can be a fairly common problem. Its just that it takes an hour to burn a single movie.

Any suggestions on this?? I never saw a solution to this query before and i have searched the forum.

    2. This is the weird one!!! When i burn the VIDEO_TS folder to disc, everything goes fine and process completes successfully-albeit taking an hour. BUT there is then nothing on the disc!!!!
I reinserted the disc in to the same drive as above to check that the files burnt ok but there is nothing there. I went to play in my DVD Recorder (Panasonic DMR E55EBS)-again nothing on it!!

Even tried burning a small program as a data disc-same problem-drive would not recognise anything on the disc. I know the drive is fine and works ok. I'm just wondering if the two (disc and drive ) are just not compatible??

Put disc in drive on laptop ( Samsung drive-i think!!) -same problem nothing there.

I have Verbatim DVD-RW's and they work fine. I know-should have stuck to what works-if it aint broke, don't fix it!! Its just that i have purchased 10 of these TDK DVD-RW's and it seems as though its all going down the pan.

I am totally lost. Is it possible that this is bad media?? Can't even understand why 'bad media' would react like that. If so, why does the drive not recognise something on the disc even though it maybe totally screwed??

This one's really puzzling me-any help would be gratefully received. Thanks.

  2. Check that you aren't making simulation burn.
Try to make an ISO image of Video_TS folder with ImgTool Classic and burn the ISO with DVDDecrypter - this procedure works for me always.
