I have the Panasonic DMR-E30 and it won't work. I took it in to be looked at and was told the digital board was bad. The unit shows the time and date on the display, but will not turn on. It will cost me $489.00 to fix it. The unit is almost 2 years old. I tried to contact Panasonic, but they won't do anything w/o my receipt (which I have not been able to find yet). I have offered to send them the whole unit so they could see the mfg date is 10/2002. Anyway, does anybody know of a place or person that might be able to troubleshoot the unit and find the bad component instead of replacing the whole board? Anyone know where I can get a used board? Does anyone know which board is the digital board. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

  2. Why not buy a used DVD recorder instead? I've seen Panasonic E50's in good shape go for a little over $100 on eBay lately. That's what I'd do.

    I'm with gshelley61!!!!
It would be insane to pay that much to have it fixed!! that's more than twice what i paid for mine brand new
And you can get newer models for alot less!!!
& even doing what you suggest could be as, if not more, expensive than buying a new one.

btw, that panny of yours can fetch $50+ at ebay.

I got mine 2 years ago too, $444, but came with a free panny dvd player after rebate.

I know new oes are affordable, I was just hoping to get some info and repair my other one and have 2. My wife would never let me get a second one, so if I can fix it, I can be really obsessed. Thanks.

OK, I bought a used on on EBay. Which of the boards is considered the digital board? If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks!
