    Hello,

I'm not into portable gaming. But I was curious what others think about the new systems coming out. My brother in law is gonna wait and probably won't buy one of the new ones. He's got a GBA.

The DS looks cool. It has lots of new stuff on it - wireless connection, voice recognition (limited), stylus, etc....

The PSP should be great for video if they ever release recordable media for it.

    What's the verdict?????

    Hello,

No! The new PlayStation Portable. (I think that's the full version of PSP).

It's gonna be a 2gb disc based portable with a huge screen and the power of the playstation 2.

I am more into playstations than nintendo systems but if you like the nintendo type of games I would say go for it.

As far as the PSP when it comes out it will probably cost more than the ps2 so I cant say that excites me very much I will stick to the consoles myself

Time will tell I think which ever one has the best variety of games for it will be the best one to buy. AFAIK the PSP wont be out before the middle of 2005 here in the US (I think they were original saying March 2005)

However I still play my sega nomad from time to time

  6. Some boys over at another forum have the DS and it looks and sounds dead good.

That dual screen thing may seem a bit weird though on a handheld and it is meant to be quite chunky.

    Hello,

Thanks guys. Actually I'm not planning on buying one anytime soon. I was just interested in views on the "NEXT GENERATION" portables.

Playstation Portable all the way. Not only is it good for portable gaming, but it will be good for portable movies, and "MP3 Player", and a handful of other things.

New game consoles make more money for the companies.

Every so often they come out with a "you gotta get this" system. And the kids tell Mom and Dad "I gotta have that" Ka-Ching$$$

    Hello,

Well the DS is a FUNDAMENTALLY DIFFERENT portable system for Nintendo. It's not DISASTEROUSLY different like the Virtual Boy was.

It's using TWO SCREENS, wireless connectivity, limited voice activation (one game requires you to blow on it to make a character move - no not that kind of blow you sickos!).

Assuming the game companies take full advantage of the new setup it will change the way games are played on portables. There's a mario game where he goes from the bottom screen to the top!

This is cool but not worth $150 right now to me.

And this was the first release by Nintendo to release first in the US and NOT Japan!

I would probably purchase a DS over the PSP, but I like the idea of both. Sony actually stole my idea for a mini-DVD portable playstation, but it's cool. I'm not going to sue or anything.

Seriously, about a month before I read the preliminary press release for the PSP, I was telling one of my workers about a new portable playstation format that uses mini-DVDs and can play mini-DVD movies.

Technically, the companies sell them at a loss. Where they make money is in the games.

    Hello,

    BINGO!

Microsoft took huge loses for the XBOX but is now catching up to PS2 thanks to the like of Halo, Halo2, Grand Theft, and other mega titles like that.

I had a play of metroid on the DS and it was great

i liked the tapping of the screen to shoot

The pictochat feature was fun for a while bit gimmicky

the game cartridge is really small , i think they would be easy to loose.

    Hello,

Technically yes! It had hand grips and I think you could stand up while doing it. Though you couldn't quite put it in your pocket!

Didn't you have to put it on the stand to be able to use it or did it have some kind of headgear?

  25. They always make us buy the same game too, in this case, Mario Bros on the DS. As if we haven't already played it in 5 versions already.

They cannot make you do anything.

You either chose to buy it or you don't.

There are others that have not played the game, so try to look at it from that perspective.

Especially since Nintendo is mostly targeted towards the younger crowd and many of those games were out before they were born. ie: Super Mario Advance and Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2.

Let me add that it also brings us older gamers back. My cousin bought a Game Boy Advance a little while back and let me see it. What game was in it? Super Mario World. It had been at least 7 years since I had last played it and boy did it bring back memories.

  30. Best toy for gbasp is one of those Xrom flashers. $89 for 512m..... I read you could put all of nintendo first game machine games on it & have room.

I would buy the console that has the characters I want to play on it.
