I've been capturing video now for a few years to my primary hard disk which I believe is slower than the recommended 7200rpm and now I'm looking at acquiring an additional 80gb, 7200rpm hard disk and I would like to know if there could be any issue with capturing video through the slower drive to the more faster 7200rpm disk.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'capturing through', but I don't know why two different drive speeds would cause you any problems. The drive controller in the computer will control the transfer speed of any data between the two drives, just the same as a slower device such as a CD player feeding a HD.

What I meant was that with drive A (the slower one) I will use it to set up the capture through XP and have drive B (the faster one) one take the captured file, so in a way it will be the slower one sending the video through to the newer, faster one.

no,your motherboard(cables) will just send it to the second hard drive,it doesnt detour to go to the slower one, then through the faster one.-that just doesnt make sense.

What is your capture program and hardware?
Although the software programs will be on the first drive, it is best to place any capture buffers (aka "scratch disk", "tmp file", etc.) on the second drive. That causes the capture to be done on the second drive eliminating disk to disk video copy. It also isolates to some degree the video capture from simultaneous OS operations. A more complete isolation would require an additional hard disk controller card for the second "video" drive. -
I'll be using the AVI IO Trial with a FlyVideo98. I've also got VirtualDub and AmCap.
I'm thankful I've got the generic WDM drivers from btwincap since it seems no one can make good enough drivers.
Oh, and soundcard wise I've got SB Live 5.1. -
