    I'm currently having some problem with my recorder and was wondering if firmware from another Philips recorder would work with my recorder and improve how it works?

    The Philips firmware updates mainly add functionality to the recorder. If you are getting error codes that are NOT recording related (error codes that appear during recording) there was one firmware update that that cured mine of that problem. If the messages happen during recording you are most likely looking at shipping it to a service center.

    Yup sent it out today. I don't think anything serious was wrong with it but with the warranty set to expire in 3 weeks I figured might as well get it taken care of.

    The firmware updates also improve media compatability, I had a lot of trouble with 8x media until the July 2004 updates.
