I have the movie Rad in avi form and want it on a compliant dvd. Here is what Gspot tells me about the avi

    1. what does Gspot tell me (how does it help me?)
    2. How can I get this to play in a standalone dvd player?

Looks like the Microsoft MP42 codec, similar to DIVX, I believe. You can do a Google search for the codec. You would have to convert it to compliant MPEG-2 for DVD use.

Looks like a nasty MS MPEG4 VCD re-encode to me. Personally I would just delete it.

ffdshow supports MS MPEG4 decoding, so you can use that instead if you want.

why would you delete it? Is it going to be painful to try to convert to a dvd?

Probably not but it has 40k 22Khz audio and is only 352x240 which if it really is a VCD re-encode would mean that the aspect is wrong. The VCD would have been 4:3 but the avi is 1:1 so it should have been resized. Wouldn't be suprised if it had a TMD watermark in the corner or similar either.

Just not worth converting. At least to me. Like I said, I would delete it, doesn't necessarily mean that you should.

The thing is that it has never been put on dvd, so this is the only version I have. It is crappy vhs type quality to watch, but something is better than none at all. How can I covert it to be a compliant dvd?
