26 mins is way slow for an 8x burn, but if you have the patience to download DVD's (IMHO both ridiculous and a waste of Internet bandwidth, just rent or buy the damn thing!) you might as well let the burn take as long as it takes.

Those Public Domain DVD movies available for download are rarely available for sale or rental...

Man when will people learn. READ the DO NOTs
As far as your burning time. Yes it's too long. 4x should be 14 mins. 8x should be about 8-9 mins. DMA enabled? No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -

well i did some searching on google for it and the Secondary IDE Channel for Device 1 was set to PIO only...so i switched it to DMA if available. but i don't know if that would help or not...i have a Sony DW-D22A but hopefully thats not the problem...

OMG. i rented a movie and burned it; here are the stats:
Used Read Buffer Started off with 100%, and it goes all the way down to 3%, yes i said THREE but it mostly stays at 50-ish% and moves up to 100 through the whole burn process.
Time Remaining started off at 8 mins and some sec.
Time elapsed ended at 26 mins and 48 secs.
i mean come on, what in the world is going on? is it my burner? i have the newest version of nero, i have no idea of what is going on. and under the Secondary IDE Channel for Device 1 (Device Manager) in advanced settings the current transfer mode is PIO but i have the transfer mode set to DMA. but the the current is still set at PIO, if that matters or not? please help! thanks! -
Maybe try cleaning up and defragmenting your hard drive. From your stats, you really don't have much free space avail.
Sidenote: I just burned a MP3 DVD with 1,502 tracks (oldies, 4.19GB worth). At 4X, it took nearly an hour and a half with Nero. And yes, my DMA was enabled. It said burn completed successfully at 4X and it played back fine, but man it took a long ass time!
