  1. I have a vast number of anime DVD’s I have obtained from across the world, from USA over Europe all the way to Japan. I want to translate them into my mother language by either editing the existing subtitles or adding my own subtitles as extra ones. Before someone asks, no, I am not having trouble with cheep Hong Kong bootlegs, I just want to add my language to those DVD’s or to edit the already existing ones.

I have DVD’s with anime serials, meaning I have several episodes on one DVD, and I am having difficulties with demuxing them properly and ripping the subtitles. How to put them all back together? Has anyone done this before and could you give me any advice?

I have no problems with ripping and demuxing, editing and finally authoring a new DVD.

Basically what I want is to merely add a subtitle stream to an original .IFO or edit an existing one, while maintain the entire structure of the DVD as it was, including menus, chapters and everything else as it was in original.

I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer. There are a lot of people out there who have translated DVD’s with episodes on them; I hope that someone knows to show me how to do this task without essentially violating the very structure of the original DVD.

If this task should require any commercial tool, I don’t care how much it costs, just please suggest it to me. I am quite annoyed by the fact that, after all this time, there is still no proper authoring tool to make subtitles editing on DVD’s more simpler, and not actually require half a dozen tools for this operation.

I thank you all in advance for you input.

  2. Unless I am quite wrong, this guide, which I have studied already, does not demonstrates how to maintain the menus intact? All one can hope is to have the chapters the same place they were before?

Also, pardon me for mistaking the forum, I believed that the issue with adding/editing subtitles is part of the DVD authoring area.
