Before someone yells at me, yes I realize this is VCDhelp.com and not GamepadHelp.com... but I need some advice and know a lot of people here play around with Emulation.

I decided not to get a Dreamcast because I wouldn't get Dreamcast games, just wanted to back-up my NES and SNES games. I went to Best Buy and bought a USB gamepad to play the games with... and everything was fine, except...

It seems that my gamepad, for the arrows, was eight directional. Meaning that instead of an up, down, right, and left... it has a circle with up, upright, right, downright, down, etc etc.

I wouldn't care much about this, but it seems I can't get used to this and always seem to jump into a hole instead of jumping straight up. I returned the gamepad, thinking I could get a different one with only a 4 directional pad. Seems they don't have one. I tried Best Buy, OfficeMax, and Electronic Botique with no luck. I'm going to try CompUSA tomorrow, but I'm willing to bet the results are the same.

Any suggestions for this? Is there a way to disable the eight directional to only allow for a 4 directional? Do you know of any USB gamepads that only have 4 directions? I've heard of adapters to let you use regular game system gamepads through a USB connection, has anyone bought one of them or could you recommend a site for me?

BTW, I don't need the fancy two-spinner playstation thingies... basically a SNES style controller would be perfect enough for me. Thanks!
