  1. Hi everyone - sorry for such long description, couldn't make it shorter!

I'm having a problem to convert recorded dvds with several different dvd recorders to DIVX (i've seen a similiar topic but haven't helped me yet)

    So far I tried :-

the Roadstar DVR-9102 model, which created only a single 1gb VOB file (making you view and playback only upto first 15min HQ) I tried to rip with Smartripper but obtained the same result. I then tried the NeroVision Express 3, managed to playback all chapters, but when I tried to re-code the DVD to DVD it stated a "bad structure", while when opting to convert DVD to NeroDigital i converted only the first 15min...so I basically gave up with this model

then I tried also the Waitec HR Vision and the Mustek R400A Plus-2, these two models work pretty much the same. They both create 5 VOB files, incrementing the size equally. When placed in Pc's drive, they both read over 4GB and show all 5 vobs, further more Powere DVD let me playback all chapters till the end. So far so good - But when I use Dr.Divx to convert to DIVX an error shows up (stating I dont have proper decoder required to stream video file) - However I do manage to convert all the DVDs that I buy or rent if I want to. So basically Dr. Divx is working fine i presume.
I tried to upgrade Dr.Divx version, but it still didn't solve the problem

The only model that solved all these problems and worked fine with seperate VOBs and Dr.Divx was the Samsung 100EA, the only one which uses - (minus) DVD media. However, when I made up my mind to purchase such mode.....it was out of stock T_T

I also tried these dvd's (mostly RW) on a different PC, but the exact same result occured. So i don't really think it's a matter of PCs.

If you need any questions or further info please do ask - The DVD drives I'm running on the PC are and LG DVD ROM, and a NEC (2100?) DVD re-writer 8x - P4 win XP
hmm i think thats enough....thanks for your time
In the meantime i'll try to re-view the sections maybe I find something new

    Hello,

You can try other programs like dvdx which will rip and encode straight off the disc. There are other programs like autogk that are a little more complex.

Check out the guides section for dvd to divx and you'll find a ton of options.

For simplicity you may want to try dvdx first.

    Good luck.
