you might try emailing the video from the phone to yourself. the carrier will usually convert the weird phone only audio format for you to a usable one. i looked for a while and never came up with a codec that can handle 3g cell phone audio.

Just an fyi I'm sure there is a charge involved in sending this. Make sure you check out your phone contract for rates involving video.

the audio stream in your phone cam video is QCP format

Quick time will play this with sound

quick time pro 7 will decode and convert the audio stream to mp4 or avi with the correct sound track for your PC

and super might Do it, or DL MPC with quick time alternative plugin

This turned up recently in the Tools list:

    https://www.videohelp.com/tools/Free_3GP_Video_Converter

Haven't gotten to it yet, but hope it turns out to be a good solution. (I'm using the VX8600.) You can't do much with the cellphone video as it is . . . .

I believe that program is for converting OTHER formats to 3gp

QT pro is probably the best for converting from 3g to avi or another format

its the qcp AUDIO stream that is the problem, not the video stream.

    Hello ,

I have the explanation why Quick Media Converter is not converting your audio and just converting the video.

Looking at your technical specs , it appears that your original file is using a QCELP audio codec from qualcom ,this is widely discussed on Cocoonsoftware.com forum however the reason it does not work
is simply because it is a proprietary codec (not free) and it is not yet supported by ffmpeg applications. To find a software that would work for this you probably would have to pay for the time being and wait for open source code to come up with a solution .

    Have a good day

  8. Hello,

Thanks for all the help, i have figured it out. I got super to encode the files, the video and audio quality are decent enough for viewing on a computer, didn't expect dazling results. here is a picture of the settings i got to work:

you got it solved, thats good

i would suggest using 352*288 and a 5:4 aspect ratio

I think your picture will be sharper and the image aspect more correct

and your 9600 video bitrate is overkill,1200 is more than enough, likely any thing over 700 is a waste

the source is 15 fps, so use 15 or 30 if you want to keep the sound in sync, that 29.97 will cause a sound sync drift, if you record/covert a long video
