  2. 1.) Most good authoring apps insist on elementary streams.
2.) MP3 is not a dvd spec for audio. Many players cannot/will not play it, if they even recognize the disk, and most authoring apps won't allow you to author such a dvd. AC3 is dvd spec, although many players can also do LPCM, and mp2.
    3.) Why? Virtualdub.

  4. It's an issue with ULEAD, they tried telling me the same when I was having issues with their software when using DV type 2. I was told by "ULEAD us in circles" to transfer as DV type 1 to correct the issues. The thing is, you can extract the audio from DV type 2 with Virtualdub and that's what I need. Use WinDV to transfer to DV type 2 instead.

  5. If you use some all-in-one authoring applications, you run the risk of a re-encode, and out of sync audio. In most cases, it is preferred to do audio separately from video, then remux only during authoring, as most encoders don't do audio well, don't transcode Dolby digital, don't support it without a plugin, or mess it up completely.
"Ulead us in circles" can lead to massive hair loss, aspirin overdoses and major lack of sleep

Why do I want to convert DV type 2 - > DV type 1? I read some where and they say type 2 have some issue.

I am using Ulead VS 8. Ulead VS 8 crashed on me when I creating AVI file. I am researching on the problem now. I have been created AVI file fine….all the sudden I have this problem. Any ideas?
Type 1 and Type 2 are are two methods of transfer

Disk space would be #1 suspect. DV-AVI is 13.5GB/hr.
