  1. This is my first time posting here, so I hope im posting in the right forum.

I have several xvid movies (avi) (512x288) and I want to burn them as VCD so I can watch them on my DVD player. I have adobe premiere and TMPGEnc. When I import the video into premiere, there is no picture or audio. When I use TMPGEnc, there is video, but no audio. Its like the audio doesnt even exist.

I can play all the movies just fine in WMP and the divx player just fine with audio and video.

I installed GSPOT, and it said the xvid movies are using a mpeg layer 3 audio, so I installed the mp3 codec, but still no audio.

Is there a simple solution to this problem, or will I have to install 5 different programs to fix it?

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

TMPGEnc and issues with VBR mp3 audio is covered numerous places around here. There is even a sticky titled "No sound in Tmpgenc?".

As for Premiere it isn't designed to work with codecs like XviD.

To load into Premiere, you must first convert your XVID to a format supported by Premiere. This will vary for different hardware, but usually be DV, MJPEG (for supported hardware), various VFW, various Quicktime and various uncompressed.

  5. Thanks edDV. I think im going to use avidub to extract the audio, then place it in tmpgenc and join it with the video to create what I want.

By the way, do you use the g4/techtv boards? I think ive seen you in there before.
