I backed up a dvd by removing some of the extras and compressing using dvd shring and clone dvd 2.

As soon as I insert the finished dvd into my stand alone dvd player it says loading and straight away goes into stop mode. I have to press play and then show starts playing from chapter 1.

How does one fix the dvd so it automatically plays every time it is inserted. and go streight to the main menu?

Could be just the player doesnt like to autostart with copies. Simple as that. Nothing you can do, except try a different burning program.

I don't think so. I've used this same method for quiet a while now and never had this problem.

this is the first dvd I've backed up with this problem.

The backup plays fine on my computer dvd player/software.

My stand alone dvd player is a pioneer dv-667a

So this is the ONLY dvd that does this? Have you tried any more? Pioneers are usual THE dvd player to have for playing copies, but youll have to elaborate on the issue.

Its the first title I've come across that does this. The problem of when loading this title ion the pioneer player it enters stop mode instead of play mode which all my other backups do.

    On a side note.

I have also tried the dvd on three other players i have here:

    Philips divx dvd player
    LG dvd player
    Omni SL-P3003D player

Out of the four dvd players I own, the only one is the Pioneer DV-667s that won't auto play this particular title. All the other above players automatically start this title fine.

Its probably something related to the pioneer dvd play but I have no idea what it could be.

So this is the ONLY dvd that did this ever? Have you tried burning anymore? Tried playing anymore in that player? I mean if it turns out to be just one dvd, who cares? No offence but it could just be a fluke. You have to try a couple things first before you can call it an issue.

I have backed up lots of dvds before and never struck this problem.
I don't understand why all of the other dvd players I have tried the dvd on don't exhibit this problem. And all the other backups I've done play fine on the pioneer as well.

Just this title and the pioneer player, seem to be having problems. Unless its the way the origional dvd has been mastered to have problems with certain dvd players?

There is a guide to using IfoEdit at http://www.doom9.net that talks about how to use IfoEdit to force a dual layer DVD split into 2 discs to automatically play. The same principle applies to your single layer copy. You have to fix this BEFORE you burn though, I would suggest testing with a software DVD player prior to burning.
