    Hi everyone,

Every VCD I burn that has a framerate of 23.976 will not play correctly on my Philips 711 standalone. The problem is that the movie isn't centered, but on the bottom of the screen, with one big black bar above it. I don't have this problem with software playback, nor with 25 fps VCD's.

    These are my settings etc.:

    Source: DivX (23.976 fps)

    TMPEG:
Stream: MPEG 1 (Video CD non-standard)
    Size: 352x288
Aspect Ratio: 4:3 625 line (PAL)
Frame Rate: 23.976 fps (25 will cause stuttering)
    Encode Method: 2pass VBR: 0-1150-2000 (min-avr-max)
Enabled: Detect Scene Change, Use Floating Point DCT
Audio: 160 Kb - Dual Channel
    GOP: 1-4-2-1

    Nero:
    Type: Video CD (non-standard)
    Encoding resolution: PAL

How can this problem be solved?

  2. Setting the aspect ratio to a PAL setting and the framerate to an NTSC setting will almost certainly confuse your DVD player and cause problems. I suggest you search for information on proper NTSC to PAL conversions. It shouldn't cause any noticeable problems if done correctly, since there is only a discrepancy of 1 fps. All PAL movies have had this conversion done, since true film framerate is 24 fps.

There's also a place in tmp to center the output...hit settings, then video. I believe it's in there.
