I've just bought a MediaMVP player.
Thinking it would be handy to have DVD's on my HD in MPG format, so that the MVP would play the films, I've been trying to rip DVD to (S)VCD
Nothing works![]()
DVD2AVI then Tmpgenc has Vfapi problems, no matter which versions I use.
VOBEdit works in Classic Media Player, but no sound in Windows Media Player, Realplayer and MVP. And the picture quality is bad.
DVD2MPEG just doesn't work
Renaming the VOB files to MPG gives great video, but no sound
No.1 DVD Ripper looks good, I thought I would try ripping a couple of films (well the 50% it allows you) before spending the money. I've just played back the result through MVP, but it has audio sync problems, despite ripping with the Audio/Sync fixer set to on.
All I want is to be able to put a DVD in, press a button, wake up the next morning and watch the film.
Surely it must be possible?

What do you really want? If you want DVDs on your HD, then use decrypter. But you will not be able to fit very many. If you plan on watching them on your computer at some point, you should consider using xvid with fairuse. Just pop the disk in and in the morning you will have a small, nice looking movie file. -
paulc wants to watch using the http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_mediamvp.html
it doesn't seem to support dvd playback...strange....
paulc: http://mvpmc.sourceforge.net/ it can play dvd vobs... -

I've just renamed the VOB files to mpg, and then used Combimovie to join the three VOB's together.
They play fine on the pc, but no sound on the MVP.
Now I'm trying simple mpg to mpg conversion to see if different codecs help -

I think I've worked out the sound problems, just not how to fix them.
I had a go at converting the mpg2 to mpg1 in Tmpgenc, that's when I noticed that the sound is AC3, not 44khz. I'm looking for another conversion at the moment. -
I think
I may be getting somewhere.
I've just converted the first chapter of Paycheck to VCD using DVDx
It Worked
It looks like DVDx won't convert all 3 VOB's at the same time, so I'll use Combimovie after.
If it all works, that is
