  1. Someone please give me a solution to this most basic of problems:

I have attempted to back up many of my authoring programs by using Nero to compress them to an iso disc [it calls it a Nero Data Disc (ISO)]. However, when I try to open the disc and extract the files I cannot get access to them.
I know they are there because when Nero opens up it displays all the programs I put on the disc, but I cannot find a way to get Nero to extact them again. I have tried Isobuster, UltraIso and CDMage as well, but none of these recognise the disc contents.
Is there a way to get Nero to EXTRACT files as well as burn them? Or is there a freeware program I haven't tried yet that might be able to get them all off my disc again, please?
    Someone please help.
    Best wishes,
    V

Have you tried mounting the ISO with Nero ImageDrive, or another Image mounting program such as Daemon Tools?

  3. Thanks for the fats reply, Safesurfer,
I did have a go with Daemon, but I must be honest I am at a loss as to what to do with a "mounted image" once I have done it i.e. where it is, how to open it, paste it etc. It's not something I am familiar with.

Most of the prog's I have used have just said that they do not recognise the file/image format. Only Nero seems capable of opening up the iso and showing me the contents.

Does this help anyone help me?
    Regards,
    V

Mounting progs create a virtual drive that can be accessed just like a normal CD/DVD drive. If you open Windows Explorer, you should see a new drive letter. If you click on this, the contents of the ISO should be displayed, and you can copy, move etc to other drives on your system, just as if you were accessing a normal physical drive.

  6. Ok, tried that, but I get a message that says Windows cannot read from that drive or the data may be corrupted, or in a format that's not compatible with Windows. How do I access Nero's Image drive, please? Nothing seems to be working at reading this iso except Nero, strange, huh?

Not sure what version of Nero you have, but i have Nero 6 Ultra edition. If I go to Start>All Programs>Nero>Nero 6 Ultra Edition, the icon for Image Drive is in that directory. Haven't done too many ISOs with Nero, so I'm not sure what the problem is, although I guess it's possible that it's in some kind of Nero proprietary format.
