  1. - AVI_IO, hang the capture Device, after the first recording.

    - VidCAP, 2GB file size limit.

    - AMcap, can't figure out how to select the compression codec.

Forget about Vdub, vitualVCR, iuVCR, and all the popular ones.

I'm more interested on INEDIT capture applications with easy interfaces, cause... i hate wizards, colors, tips, beautiful icons, etc.

    Anyone ?

Mmm, Avi_io can perfectly capture in segments without dropping a single frame. I alwys find that much easier to handle. It's the best working capturetool for my BT8x8 TV-Card.
I am using it with the btwincap drivers and Picvideo MJPEG codec.

  5. For some reason, after i hit "ESC" to stop capturing a segment, the capture device hangs, and i have to close avi_io and come back again.

Q02: When capturing video with VirtualDub (or another capture program), my computer seems to lock when video capture is finished. Why ? - I have Win98SE or WinMe.

A: This only happens with Win98SE and WinME, and it is caused by a bug in a DLL of Microsoft. I have provided a patch in the download section for WinME. This will NOT happen if you use a DirectShow based video capture application such as Ulead Media Studio, or Ulead Video Studio. Unfortunately, Adobe premiere is NOT a DirectShow capture application. TIP: I have recently found that clicking on the task bar twice (means, outside of the capture app.) does unlock the computer and allows video capture to finish properly. Donīt know why , but it works for me!
