  1. Would a JVC SR-V10U be a good deal at $160, no remote? I want to pick up a decent VCR as I'm not satisfied with my current VHS>DVD transfer.

I got a refurbised one for about $150 a while back. It seems to work good but I would be leary about not getting the remote with it. There are a lot of settings on this vcr and I am not sure you can get to them all without the remote.

    Good deal.
    But you'll need a remote.

  4. How much do you think that'll set me back? I'll try to search for one.

Price is not as much an issue as locating one for sale, I would think. Maybe JVC sells replacements. Any S-VHS VCR remote would work. Even Best Buy or somebody selling the HR-S2901U may have extras for some reason.

  6. it would be best to check ebay..

i got an jvc-hr-5911u deck on there about 6 months ago for 35 bucks shipped still works to this day and has 2 S-video inputs one in the front and one in the back..

the svhs vcr play back is EXCELLENT and cleans up the image quality quite a bit when vhs tapes go thru the deck to my ILO dvd recorder the picture quality is incredible for a vhs to dvd transfer.

$11 for the remote used on eBay. At least you would be able to use the full controls of the machine with this remote
