  2. Check out the tools section of this forum. Lot of tools are available for editing & splitting audio files.

    In general, all tools decode to wav (some discretely while loading), do the edits, then reencode (some discretely while saving). Try Goldwave or some such.
    If the editor you try insists on saving as wav, do so, and reencode to mp2 with tooLame.

    try mp3directcut. It can cut without rencoding. Very fast and easy.

    Yes. I have used it for that. If youhave a really big file, this is perferct because it does not re-encode.
