I found it interesting to see a lot of hoopla surrounding the Cabir Virus (or worm) that appears to be infecting mobile phones now:

    http://australianit.news.com.au/articles/0,7204,12321166%5E15306%5E%5Enbv%5E,00.html

... especially since an article published in the middle of last year acknowledged that Cabir existed ... but comforted everyone by saying it wouldn't likely spread:

    http://www.silicon.com/silicon/software/malware/0,3800003100,39121359,00.htm

    So much for comforting words.

P.S. And yes, this is on topic since some of the newer phones out there capture "motion video" as well as stills.

It's disturbing that some phones can be accessed clandestinely when they're turned off

  3. As I understand it any cell can be accessed whether on or off. Maybe the only sure way to keep big brother and others out is to remove the battery, or keep buying "burners".

If you are that worried about it pull out your sim card.
The real answer lies in completely understanding the question!
