I found it interesting to see a lot of hoopla surrounding the Cabir Virus (or worm) that appears to be infecting mobile phones now:

... especially since an article published in the middle of last year acknowledged that Cabir existed ... but comforted everyone by saying it wouldn't likely spread:

It's disturbing that some phones can be accessed clandestinely when they're turned off

As I understand it any cell can be accessed whether on or off. Maybe the only sure way to keep big brother and others out is to remove the battery, or keep buying "burners".
