hi all,
how does the "cache size" determine the performance.
I'm comparing two brands of external 300G harddisk
Maxtor 16 mb Seagate 8 mb
How does it differ..please give me feedback
Thanks in advance

Although I can't offer rock-solid evidence here, I read a review in CustomPC of that Maxtor 16MB cache drive and they said it offered incredible performance. I'm not sure what cache does, but more is usually better!

I had to buy two of the 16MB Maxtors for work last week. They get hot to the touch, even with aluminum casing. The heat issue concerned me.
The cache probably means it will run faster than the Seagate, but heat is a killa.... -
hey thank u guys for the replies.
about the heating issue..I think i've heard that maxtor has the best design for cases regarding over heating. I'm not sure other brands have better solutions..unless its a marketing thing..I dont know.
as for my Cache size question..I still need feedback. I need to know why 16 mb is better than 8mb. how is it actually better.
