I don't see xvid in the description, what do I have to do (other than reencode the avi) to get the phillip to play xvid?

  2. Check here. A lot of people have posted their experiences with xvid.

Still a few bugs in the system...

  3. You generally don't have to convert XVID files, the Philips can play them. The execption, and this goes for Divx too, is files that are encoded with the Quarter Pixel (QPEL) option. The player can't handle QPEL so you'll have to re-encode any files that use it.

Well, I just got back from Walmart and they were sold out I know you're thinking, "you should called first." I did. Thats why I'm so pissed off. Damn lady on the phone said that they absolutely had some instock, but when I got there, well you know the rest.

Anyway this gives me an oppurtunity to ask this question. Would it be a good idea to play my avi files from my pc to my TV until phillip improves on some of there features, like the remote and rewinding.

There is about 20-30 feet between the two tvs I would like to watch my movies on and my pc. does that pose a problem.

    What hardware is required?

    Dell 4400, 1.7ghz, 256ram

James, I ran into the same problem. Spent two days searching for one and finally tried CompUSA. They had about 50 ot them stacked on the back wall.

I tried the long patch cords for a while but got tired of tripping over the cords running from my bedroom to the living room.

For $69.99, you can't go wrong buying the Philips

If the guy is anything like me, he would rather drive down to a local store and pick it up instead of having to buy something online.

I know I was very pissed off when I couldn't find merchandise that was advertised at certain stores and wondered why they even had these stores if all they did was sell everything online. They could save a hell of alot of money if they just closed down all their retail stores and used wharehouses and online salespersons.

Businesses act like all of their customers own a computer and do all their shopping online. If you don't have a computer (and a credit card), you're ships out of luck.

I totally agree. I would rather drive down to my local Walmart and purchase the player. But it seems as if my hands are tied right now. Every store that seems to carry the damn thing is out of stock. You'd think that they would understand that the demand for this player would be very high and thus order accordingly

Also, each store that I visited, stated that it would be 5-7 business days before they get anymore in Thats sucks majorly I'm not going to wait on those fuckers; I'd recieve the player faster than that if I go ahead and order the damn thing online.

You guys have to excuse me, I'm pretty pissed right now

James, did you try CompUSA? I bought mine there on Friday and they had a whole lot more left. I called their online number and entered my zip code and they listed the stores in my area that had them in stock.
