  2. Are you using NTFS or UNIX? If not there is a 2 Gbyte file size limit. I used to try to capture using Windows 98 using a Haupphauge PVR-250 card. It would split the file at the OS file size limit. Windows XP has a file size limit unless you specify NTFS when you loaded it. After the fact you can convert to NTFS with some command from the Run menu. Just do a start help NTFS and you should be able to find this command. If you are using Windows 98 you are out of luck but you can always author the MPEG files into one movie using your favorite tool. You may notice a gap at the join point.

  4. Is the filesystem truly NTFS?
What are you using to capture? Hardware, software?

  5. Double click MyComputer then select the drive that you use to record your videos. Right click on the drive and select properties. The 2nd or 3rd line will say File System: NTFS if you have NTFS or FAT32 if you are using yesterday's technology.

If it says FAT32 use this command from the Start then Run menu:

    CONVERT C: /fs:ntfs

Change the C in C: to the drive letter that you want to convert.

Note that this command will require your machine to reboot and the process will start during the boot up process. You should back up your machine before doing this as if something goes wrong you can loose everything.

  7. You need to tell us what capture card you are using and what software you are using to capture video as your problem is not a file size limit problem. You could also tell us what size the files are that are getting created?

  9. It just might be bad software as 2G is 2^31-1. The max value of a 32bit signed number. 4G is the max of an unsigned number.
