If a player doesnt say "Dolby Digital" does the sound SUCK?

I am thinking of buying an apex ad-1500, but am nervous about the sound because it doesnt have the dolby digital logo on it...

it also doesnt have cdr/rw though, but plays them.

anyway, i currently have a low ent toshiba (1500 i think) and it plays 4 channel dolby on my mini system, but will the apex have as good quality on sound?

please let me know, i am not an audiophile, but care about sound. i dont want just 2 channel stereo, as i will want to upgrade my sound later.

The 1500 has a "DOLBY DIGITAL SETUP" menu. You can output the sound to a Dolby Digital 5.1 receiver and get the 5.1 effects.

The 1500 does NOT have an onboard Dolby Digital 5.1 decoder.
