  1. Hello

Ive been burning DVDs of quicktime AVI and MOV files without any problems using Ritek DVD Rs and Toast with Jam 6.05. The Quicktime files playback smoothly on my Mac but after encoding and buring to a DVD they playback with jerkiness on panning shots on my standalone DVD player!

Has anyone got ideas? Surely this must be to do with the way Toast is encoding the movie!?

    Thanks

This sounds a field dominance issue. The Mac display doesn't have field interlacing so you don't see it. But if the fields are reversed on a TV you get a this jerkiness in motion scenes.

When this occurs the easiest solution is to use an application other than Toast to encode your MPEGs.

  3. I also suggest using a newer version of Toast 6.0.9 was released today.

  4. Thanks. Does 6.09 resolve this issue then?

As an alternative to Toast what would you recommend i use to encode. Ive tried FFMPEG but i find it far to complicated to use. I love the ease of use with Toast...im open to recommendations! Cheers.

  5. Well, I've never had problems like this with Toast. Especially with AVI. You could turn on single field in QT Pro.

Only thing else to use is DVD SP, BitVice, or MainConcept. All are over $300.
