  1. Hi,

I mentioned in an earlier thread that I have some captures from an HD source in MPEG2 format. The broadcast was in 720p, and the MPEG2 files are 1280x720 @ 59.97 fps. The fps is what AVICodec, and just about every tool I've use on them says.

Is there some tool to find out whether these MPEG2 are interlaced, or progressive? Or if they are using 3:2 pulldown to achieve the 59.97 fps?

I ask, since when I use TMPEGenc to convert to 720x480 @ 23.97 with 3:2 pulldown, areas of fixed text and graphics in the video will "wobble" in the vertical direction a half-a-pixel up and down. In fact, in looking at the key frames, every other key frame will have the fixed graphic slightly higher or lower than the previous key frame.

When I encode to 720x480 @ 29.97 interlaced, I have no such issues.

    Any ideas?
