  1. I'm doing some home videos. DV to DVD. I bought some Memorex labels and on the package is says that labels can make DVD's undreadable. Is this true? I mean omitting the possiblity of a dual layer DVD, can a label actually harm a DVD? If so, what can you do aside from using the dinky center labels? Can permanent marker be used on the DVD's as well?

    Thanks

(hint - search is your friend)

Some have no problems. The majority disagree. Sharpies are fine.

Use Neato (Fellows labels) Never had a problem yet. My dad uses them with no problems. My coworkers use them, no problems yet. Have yet to see a label cause a problem.

Be safe and use a sharpie. Problems will be dependent upon the media and player. I put Neato labels on my early disks and they play fine on my Magnavox but not on my sony player or my sister cyberhome. It also appears the problem can get worse over time. You can remove the labels, but it is a pain. I, now, use a sharpie and print my label on my paper sleeves. Never any problems with any player and I still have a nice picture on the sleeve.
