Is it me or are a lot of programs not transmitted in widescreen on sky digital?

I have just bought a dvd recorder and was starting to collect some sci-fi episodes (farscape, andromeda etc) and I have just noticed that they are not in widescreen (hitting the info button shows the W missing from the info box)

Is anyone else finding this or is my decoder not set up correct?

Well a lot of SKY programs are not widescreen - but you will know that without the DVD recorder.... The problem is with a DVD recorder & Sky is that the DVD Recoder will recorder the 16:9 material in 4:3 anyway. Have a look a snippet from another post in this:

I did a test recording from sky+. Whilst the sky+ was outputing 16:9 the recording was 4:3. In fact it was anamorphically squashed side to side so that if the TV was set to 16:9 it looked ok but all the flags in the IFO & VOBs were 4:3. This is not a major problem but very frustrating as i have to take the DVD to the PC to sort it out with IfoEdit if i intend to give the DVD to someone with a 4:3 TV... Anyway is this just the way it is or am i missing something?

Also the 4kus does not perform widescreen switching. I have it set up to output 16:9, i have the TV set up to switch & i have good scart cables. Even with widescreen retail DVDs the dvd player does not switch the TV to 16:9 - i have to do this manually. Is this a known issue?
    Do you have similar experiences?

From what i understand the issue is more sky's fault than the DVD Recorder (WSS on the scart not on the signal).

Anyway do the IfoEdit trick to have it playback properly.
