  1. HELP! This is a great site but there is SO much information that I am completly confused.

Here is what I want to do:

I have a collection of DVD movies that I want to convert to Divx for my Windows XP Media Center PC. I am looking to cut the size of the DVD to 1/2 in the final Divx versions.

My Media center is hooked up to a widescreen HDTV so I want the best quality with the AC3 audio that I can get.

Can anyone help me figure out how to do this?

I already know how to remove CSS and copy dvd's so I'm a head of the game - I think.

    Thanks

I use the program called Fair Use Wizard for this. You can get more information in the Convert Section of the How To Guides. It works great and is easy to use. It's very automated for the novice but offers a great deal of flexibility to the experienced user. You can try if for free but the free download periodically inserts black and white segments into the converted video. The full version only costs $10 or so.

Another option is using Gordian Knot or Auto Gordian Knot. Fully integrated package for ripping to filetring to encoding. Worth a look.
