Hi guys. I've started using DVdFab to backip 1 DVD9 to DVD5s, but it's only a trial, so I'm wondering: does a similar freeware program exist anywhere?

    Thanks,

    MJ

  2. Perhaps they've removed the freeware version, v.0.17.0 at the main download site. I presume it's okay to get it from mrbass? If not, please remove the link.

    Freeware. NP 8)

Even links to commercial software is fine as long as crackz aren't discussed

Capmaster: isn't that what LordSmurf talks about? A "special" patch to make Record Now 4.5 work w/ Pioneer 109, etc.

Methinks that sounds like a hack/crack.

It's not a crack if you own a legitimite copy of RNM:

    Agreed

There's a big difference between getting something you own legally to work with a certain burner, and bypassing copyrights by illegally cracking an app

  8. I was thinking of the time someone asked about the last free version of TMPGEnc. I posted a link which was removed. As I understand it, Pegasys had to start paying MPEG2 license fees and put up a notice on their site that they forbid redistribution, etc., of that version. Another site still had it available for download.

I was somewhat puzzled, can "freeware" become, well, not free? Just wondering.

If it's still available for free download legally, it's awfully hard to find anything wrong with what you did.

Linking to a cracked copy isn't too cool, but linking to a legitimate app whether freeware, shareware, trialware or straight purchase is OK here (Except for apps that crack or keygen apps, that is )

  10. Well, I guess the question is whether it WAS legal for them to offer it. I was under the impression it was. (?) Needless to say, we wouldn't want this site to run into difficulties. It's too entertaining.
