  1. I am getting ready to purchase my very first DVD recorder. After reading trough many forums, I am thinking of buying a Pioneer 320. It records to
-R and -RW. A couple of my buddies have Lite-on's that only record to +R and +RW. My question is, If I borrow finalized +R or +RW DVD's from my buddies, will I be able to view them on my Pioneer 320 since it only records to -R and -RW? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks. [/b]

  2. Some machines will play discs even though they say they won't. Try taking a DVD+R disc to somewhere they sell the Pioneer and see if it will play.

True...Best to try it, or wait until someone that has one responds.

I've played DVD+RW's on my Pioneer DVR-510H-S which has an older Pioneer DVD drive than the 320. I have never tried a DVD+R. In my opinion there should be no problem playing those finalized discs on the DVR-320 just at the Lite-Ons should have no problem playing finalized DVD-R and -RW discs.

  5. I've got a 420, the 320 is the same machine minus the HD, plus a firewire port. It plays DVD+Rs perfectly, and the +R discs I tried were not bitset to DVD-ROM either, so they definitely will play +Rs just fine.

  7. I can get back to you on +RWs if you want me to try it out, but I can't do it now, probably tomorrow I can burn one and try it.

  11. Do you need the firewire port? Otherwise I know Wal-Mart sells the 220, same machine minus the firewire. I think it goes for around $224 or some odd price like that, at least last time I saw it.

  13. I just got the 420 H from Costco and I have had the machine (it's great) for one week. I did not know that I might be able to play +R discs. I am going to try it tonight. If it can play them, can +Rs also be recorded to the HDD? I will try this as well. If anyone has done this, let me know.

Hope I'm not jumping in where I don't belong. If so, please forgive.
I own the Pioneer 420H-s. Love this machine. They'll have to pry it from my cold hands before I'd give it up. An incredible breath of fresh air after the iLO.

I had the iLO HD04 and have an UN-Finalized +R DVD. It will not play in the Pioneer. I also have some FINALIZED DVD+R's and they will play fine.

I also have an UNfinalized DVD+RW that was made with the iLO HD04 and it plays fine on the Pioneer. I don't have time tonight to see if you could do a Backup copy and make it into a DVD-R. But, the iLO menus and functions worked and played fine for me.

  15. I was also able to play a +R disc (finalized) in the 420H. I have not tried to save it to the HDD. If I have time to do so later today, will try. This is such a great machine...
