    think I read somewhere that with a new firmware, the ILO can write DVD-R.
    Is this true ?.
    I have lots DVD-R discs.

    No, not at this time anyway. The burner inside is capable but the function has been turned off by the recorders firmware. At some point someone may be able to put the dual format capability back in, though the HD04 may be the more likely one since it is so much like the Lite-On 5040
