  1. i've had this problem for a while. Every then and again, windows media player will not play the whole length of the video. For example, a 5 minute clip will be shown and played as a 30 second clip. II'd say about 25% of larger movie files do this. I dont think its the file itself because they will play just fine in video lan.

    on another note, is there any media player with a better seek feature? its such a hassel trying to skip the commercials on my video files with wmp.

    Video Lan is a lot more forgiving than WMP, and has been designed to play part files. This means it is able to ignore and pass over corrupt sections and play the good, whereas WMP stops at the first sign of crap in the file. If this is what you are getting, then your source files have been corrupted during download, or were corrupt to begin with. You could try one of the avi fix tools, such as DivFix, but you may still have problems.
