The people on the apple support forum haven't been able to help yet so I figured I'd give it a shot here.

I have a USB headset made by Logitech, worked great when I first got it.

A week or so later I noticed that the sound in one ear was more quiet then the other. Strange but I went to see if maybe the controls were adjusted and found that there is no balance function for them. Instead it says "The Selected device has no output controls" in the audio control panel. But then I cant SWEAR one was there to begin with.

I've tested it on another comptuer and the headset is perfect still. But not on my trusty G5.

I've done permissions repairs, several system updates, and just generally messed with it. No joy. Anyone seen this before?

This is what you need to do...... Go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES/SOUND/"click on OUTPUT" and adjust your speaker balance.

Adjust your computer balance not the headphone balance. The headphones will be balanced after the computer is balanced.

  8. Have you tried other headphones/speakers on this Mac? It could be a problem with a bad audio jack.
