I am trying to setup an Urban Terror server for a mate of mine to play on with me show I can show him the ropes. The only problem is he can't see any servers I setup and I can't see any servers he sets up but we can both join a server and play. When I use the ingame server browser I see 2100 servers but he only sees 1600, why the discrepancy ?
I have asked him to check all his settings to ensure we have the same setup and all appears fine. Why the hell is he missing 500 servers including mine and why the hell can't I see his ? Maybe I need to open up some more ports on my router ? **** this is annoying and time consuming.

Buddha says that, while he may show you the way, only you can truly save yourself, proving once and for all that he's a lazy, fat bastard. -
Yup... If you router supports "port forwarding" (could be under a different name though) you'll need to find out what ports are required for a server for that game and forward them to your computer's internal IP address. Another option that's on some routers is "DMZ Host". You can set your computer's internal IP to be the DMZ Host and all ports will automatically be forwarded to your computer.Originally Posted by VCDHunter
All this is if you are the server. If your friend is the server then he needs to do this, not you. -
My mate is a server but not behind a router. I still dont see him though.Originally Posted by gummyAvenger

As long as the DMZ is set to be the internal IP address (probably 192.168.1.xxx) of the server computer, it seems like it should work. Dunno what else it could be...Originally Posted by VCDHunter

Battlefield did this same thing to me sometimes my computers or close together sometimes hitting update at the same time helped.
Is this game a free full version game is it any good ? -
I've pretty much given up on hosting a server for the time being. Spent about 5hrs trying different things all to no avail.Originally Posted by Scottie
Its a mod for Quake3, machine guns and buildings pretty much sums it up.

Do you both have the exact same version of Quake and the mod, including patches?
edit: that would also explain why you're seeing significantly different numbers of servers -
Yup, both same versions of Q3 (1.32) and same versions of UT (3.7 IIRC). Its very strange but I don't think my server is visable outside of my LAN. I can't figure out why, I've disabled firewalls, forwarded ports, enabled DMZ even disabled NAT, but nothing seems to work.Originally Posted by gummyAvenger
