I have a JVC GR-DVL320u Digital Video Camera. I connect to my computer via Firewire. Computer recognizes the connection and askes if I want to use the following software:
Sonic Foundary Vegas 4.0
Windows Movie Maker
ArcSoft ShowBiz
Using all of the above software I can control my camcorder (stop, play, rewind, etc.) but no video or audio ever crosses to the computer (no captured frames). The computer recognizes the camcorder as AVC Compliant DV Camcorder.
Any Sugestions.

I forgot to mention:
My video card is an ATI All in Wonder 8500
CPU is AMD 3000
motherboard is
A7N8X deluxe -
Video and audio should be there on the IEEE-1394 connection. The video card shouldn't be in the loop.
It seems odd that you have transport control but no audio or video. It could be a camcorder setting or a problem with the IEEE-1394 driver. -
The Video card has the IEEE 1394 connectors on it. Its got me puzzled also. I checked camera settings and it is setup as it should be. How do I remove the IEEE 1394 driver?

youngdl,
I think your motherboard has a firewire header that you can use to connect to your videcam rather than going through your video card. -
Is your card the AIW-8500DV? I have that.
Don't use that AIW IEEE 1394 port, it's buggy, never worked right.
There is a dip switch on the card to turn it off.
Use a PCI card or motherboard IEEE 1394 port instead.

My mother board doesn't have a firewire header. Asus opted to put two RJ45 connections on it instead.
my card is the AIW 8500DV. If I install another IEEE 1394 card will I have to turn of the Vid card IEEE 1394? I will try the new card and report back.
Thanks. -
Yes there is a IEEE 1394 dip switch on the 8500DV card. Turn it off. It will solve other problems as well.
