I'm new here, and I am sure that this has been addressed--if so, sorry, just point me in the right direction.

I bought a DVD camcorder, thinking it would be easier to transfer video clips to my computer than with my miniDV camcorder. Boy was I wrong. I have downloaded all of the software that came with the camcorder, downloaded additional conversion programs from the net, and nothing works. I have the mini DVD in the disc drive, which gives me a folder that contains the following type of files: .bup, .ifo, .vob. What do I need to do to convert my clips on the DVD into .wmv files on my computer. Any help would be appreciated!!

  2. Hello Billvasko,
I don't have a DVD camcorder, but this is how I would approach this.

First I would rip to hard drive using TMPGEnc DVD Author. This will put an MPG file (or files) on your hard drive.

Then I would try to use one of the following to convert the MPG file to WMV:
    Windows Movie Maker
    Super
    WinAVI Video Converter
(a lot of people on this forum don't like WinAVI, but I find it useful to convert to WMV)

I don't know what software Samsung provides, but this is what I would try. Hope this helps a little.
