  1. Does anyone know of a program that will convert your mpg file to vcd and burn them to a dvd. I know of nero, but nero converts to dvd when it converts files. I've tried lowering the bitrate and it doesn't work = /..

basically, i'm asking are there any other programs out there?

I'm trying to burn more music videos to dvd's.

I can burn about 20 vids to a cd, but only 40 to a dvd. I just want more vids, and need a program that can reduce the bitrate of the video files.

    Thanks alot guys

illpeeonu, (took me a second to figure that one out...)

If you're capturing the videos yourself, I'd go straight to VCD video (mpeg-1, 1150cbr, 352x240) but use 48k audio instead of 44.1k audio. Hopefully you're capture software will allow it. I'd be surprised if it didn't. This will allow you to create a DVD compliant mpg1 video and no conversion will be necessary.

Otherwise, you can use TMPGenc (free) to convert your videos to VCD compliant files. Simply modify the default audio setting to 48k vs 44.1k audio unless you want your authoring tool to do the audio work.

From here, I use Ulead Movie Factory 2 to author the DVD (with or without menus) to create an ISO and use DVDDecrypter to burn.

This should allow you to put about 7hrs (4200mb / 600mb an hour for MPEG1 video and MP2 audio) of video on one DVD.

(From the way you worded your inquiry, I'm going with the assumption that you wanted to make a DVD. If you're simply looking to make a DVD data disk, you can skip the authoring portion above.

(And since I don't use Nero (the encoder really bites) I'm not sure if you have an option to tell it not to convert VCD video when making a DVD)

PS: My humble apologies to anyone picking on my lack of M/m or K/k etiquette.
    Have a good one,

If you already have VCD compliant files use TMPGEnc DVD Author, it will convert the audio for you.

  4. nero converts to dvd when it converts files
    Huh?
Nero does VCD and SVCD as well...I'm confused
DVDLab will also allow you to burn your mpegs directly to dvdr, even if they're not dvd compliant.
You can mix VCD, SVCD and DVD all on one disk.
No guarantees it will play in YOUR player though

Try SVCD2DVD. It may work for VCDs also.
