I have a Averatec Laptop with a DVD+/- RW. The problem I have is that the DVD writer use to read/write to DVD-R's and DVD+R's, it will write to DVD+RW or DVD-RW but will not read or write to DVD-R's or DVD+R's. Is there a firmware or something that will make it burn and read the DVD's again I don't know what happen to the writer! It reads and writes fine to CDs but I can't figure out the DVD problem.

The writer is a Slimtype DVDRW-852S. I haven't found any update for my computer and haven't found any firmware for it. I need help!
