  1. I am using Sony DVD - R; media code=SONY08D1.

I keep getting Cyclical Redundancy Errors about 50% throug burning with
    DVD Decryptor.

I am using a SOnby DRU 530-A. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Dan

buy better media than Sony like TAIYO YUDEN or MAXELL.

  3. Most of the Made In Japan Sony media is pretty good, including this media code. I have a feeling it is choking in combination with your burner. So if replacing the burner is not an option then the Taiyo Yudens would be a good choice to try. =)

In my experience SONY08D1 is almost as good as TYG02 or MXLRG03, so in this instance I'm positive it's a write strategy/firmware issue.

  5. If it is a write strategy/firmware issue, can I re-flash to an older firmware version. I just flashed the latest from Sony's web page?

    Thanks

  7. Do you recomend another program besides DVD Dycrypter to burn
    I01/I02/I03/ and md5 files?

I tries Cute DVD burner, but I couldn't drag my I0 files or the md5?

    Thanks

  8. Alcohol 120% will burn them. They have a trial version you can use.

I had problems burning ISO's to DVD-R with DVD Decryptor - ended up with coasters. The burner is NEC 3500A. Nero OEM 6.3 works burns ISOs to DVD-R just fine. I only use DVD Decryptor to burn ISOs to DVD+r.
    Never had a coaster!

sony08d1 burns at 8x with the Nero.

    That media is good.
    More likely a burner problem.

I realize I'm comparing apples and oranges because these companies constantly change manufacturers.

But about a year ago I made a recording of a football game for a co-worker.
All I asked was that he purchase the media. He spent $9 on a Sony 3pk DVD-r at Walmart.

None of the DVDs burned properly, either in my old rock solid 1x burner or my HS-2 set top. They froze and stuttered like crazy. He ended up returning them for a refund.

I would agree with most of the people on this issue- It probably isn't a media issue. But I wouldn't rule it out. If Sony put thier name on crap in 2003, why wouldn't they do the same in 2005?

Sony seems to be focusing on improving its DVD media. There is quite a bit of its 8x and 16x media made in Japan.

Sony has never been bad media.
CMC, Princo ... that's bad media.
