I have downloaded some car racing clips off the internet in various types, xvid, divx and all that, with odd frame sizes and the frame rate is 23.97 frames per second... First I tried simply to convert the files to standard mpg2 and then author a DVD, but it was saying that the frame rate has to be 29.97. Is this true? If I want to play the DVD on my sony ntsc player, is there only one framerate that I can use (29.97)? I know PAL is 25, but I also know that 23.97 is NTSC as well as 29.97....

    Thanks for your help...

23.97 is fine for NTSC, but you need to adjust the file to include a 3:2 pulldown. You can re-encode the file with TMPGENC and include the pulldown in the options, and I think some programs like ReJig (not sure if that's the one) can modify the MPEG file to include it.

hmm ok...question is though,, I am pretty sure it was tmpgenc's dvd author program that rejected my mpg file when it was 23.97,,, if i don't do the pull down thing, is that why it rejected it?
