I've hooked up a Toshiba 13" tv to my 7500 ATI card and have it enabled so eveything I see on my Monitor I see on the Toshiba. Except when I open MMC 9.03 and select S-Video or Tuner I get a picture in the small screen in MMC but the small screen on my Toshiba is black, no picture. I can see the MMC control panel and the small picture screen but no picture inside the small MMC screen on the Toshiba.
If I open up Virtual VCR I get a picture on the small movie screen on my Toshiba right away.
I'm missing something here but don't know what.

    Thanks for any input.

I've had that problem myself but wasn't all that bothered, just testing the TV out. Maybe it's an overlay problem? Do you get a picture using a software DVD player?

Reason I posted in the Restoration section is because I hooked up the TV so I can see my adjustments using a AVT-8710 TBC and Vidicraft III while I capture my home VHS movies so I can burn them to DVD.
Yes I can see a picture on the Toshiba when I play a DVD in Power DVD.

Well maybe someone can help both of us out.
Kinda surprised lordsmurf didn't make a comment. I thought he was a ATI expert

It's in the settings. I haven't played with mine in quite some time so I am sorry that I can't tell you just which ones. Check the resolution and the WDM/VFW? settings. Once you do get it to work, take notes. The card will do just about anything, but making it do it is your part. I am suprised that Lordsmurf didn't shoot you an answer of the top of his head.

It's probably because of Macrovision. Try playing something that is not copy protected and see if you have a problem.

Nothing to do with Macrovision, we are using the TV out on the card.

I'd have to see something like this in person. It's either wires or output settings. Not sure what. These things can be touchy.

It's in the overlay settings in MMC. Exactly where it is will depend on what version of MMC you are running. The settings are only enabled when you have something connected to your TV out cable. I'm not at my own machine at the moment so can't check but I think you have to select Theatre mode and full screen. I'll have a look and see where the settings live when I get home.

Right, I'm running MMC 8.9 but I wouldn't think there's much (if any difference). Right click the desktop and select Properties to get into the video properties settings. Go Settings> Advanced> Overlay> Clone Mode Options> Theatre Mode. In Theatre mode settings, if you set 'Same as Source Video', you should see your full desktop, including the video being played in it's Window. If you select 'Full Screen Video', you should see just your video window but covering the full screen.

To get this to work properly on mine, I have to change the desktop setting from 1280 x 1024 (which I normally run) to 1024 x 768.

    The stangest thing.
Today I was looking over 4 to 6 back up DVD's I've made in PowerDVD and they were playing full screen in the 13" Toshiba which was nice and then I decided to try playing with MMC to get it to work and when I clicked on TV the screen came on my monitor like usuall and started displaying what was on channel 15 like usual and then I look at the Toshiba and lo and behold I was getting a full screen pictire playing what was in MMC.
Don't even ask me what happened.
But I'm still writing done your instructions just in case.

Be advised! Don't ever try to show someone how well your ATI AIW can do something. Because as soon as you go to show them, it won't work for you I have had the same kinds of trouble with the settings. Sometimes the webcam won't show in the preveiw window on the first attempt on the second monitor and sometimes it will. Some programs won't let you drag different screen parts to the other desktop and so on. Most of the time there is a setting change or a work around. But every system is different and you will have to get used to the quirks that your setup has. Other than the card being somewhat buggy with the settings I beleive it to be a good card to have. Sorry that I can't offer any technical help, but I am offering as much morale support as I can. Hang in there! And good luck!
