    Hi

I’m up to converting DVD to VCD.

In the commercials VCD that available for buying the quality is the best possible. when converting from DVD I cant rich that quality.

The most noticeable quality decrease is presented by the big cubes/pixels that appears on my converted VCD on the TV screen .obviously its due to the resolution that VCD specification requires. I was thinking that its because I’m using a commercial DVD as a scours so the target must be effected by that but I’m still confuse….if the DVD frame size is 720x480 and the target frame size is 352x288 ….the quality should remain because the original is much bigger than the target…so why the quality seems to be low and how can I avoid those noticeable cubes that The commercial VCD doesn’t have it.

    Thanks
    S

Which programs are you using? Did you try the NTSC VCD template in TMPGEnc? Are you encoding a compliant VCD....blocks usually means bitrate too low. VCD is 1150 CBR.

Why? Your source DVD is NTSC.

  6. yeh ! i make PAL (x) vcd, bitrates as low as 700 (of course its in cinema scope!!), but the quality should rival a original VHS at least !!!!

i use tmpeg, the reasons for the blocks is your motion search is set to normal , set it to high quality at least !!!!!! try a vit of the source let us know.....
