    Hello

What are the filenames on the DVD?

Can only assume you are only placing your VOBs (and no other files?) into VIDEO_TS (with an empty AUDIO_TS folder) folder...
    no authoring?

(Need more info to help you out really).

this is sending me mad plus costing a fortune on disks.
why don't you use rewriteables to test first?

  3. i'm converting divx with dvd santa, it puts vob files in folder i've named,
not in audio ts or video ts folder, then asks if i want to write, after playing back vob files that it has created and knowing they work ok i then burn using dvd santa tool

    Here lies your problem.

    A DVD needs a particular structure;
    VIDEO_TS folder
containing your VOBs, IFO, and BUPs (and nothing else)
    AUDIO_TS folder
    empty (dont ask)

Try HERE for guides on the conversion.
or HERE for DVD Santa guide

IMHO dvdSanta isnt all that good, although it is an easy-to-use GUI.

But use what works for you. If you are bothered by the output quality then i suggest you look into other conversion tools.

    Honest

What are the filenames on the DVD?
Counldn't give two-hoots what's on your HDD. Your DVD player doesn't care either.
